Edgar Allen Poe

Edgar Allen Poe was born in January 19, 1809 Boston, Massachusetts. Poe never really knew his real parents. His dad left his family when he was young, so he never knew his father. His mom died when he was three. He went to live with John and Frances Allen. The Allen’s had money problems when Edgar was with them. He went to the University of Virginia in 1826 he then went to West Point in 1830. He was kicked out of West Point for acting out of line. In 1836 he married his thirteen year old cousin, she later died in 1847. He had an alcohol problem which may have led to his death in October 1849. His death is still under great speculation. “The Raven” was considered his best work. He was also given the nickname “Father of Detective Stories”
